Kenneth Lee Reeves of Abilene, Texas left this world to be with our Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the young age of 73. Visitation will be Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Potosi Baptist Church, 2826 Potosi Road, Abilene, Texas 79602 with Dwaine Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Potosi Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Kenneth was born in Roscoe, Texas to Lloyd and Jewel Reeves on January 30, 1941. He graduated from high school in Hermleigh, Texas in 1959. He married Mary Ann Reeves on November 7, 1959 in Hermleigh, Texas. He was a veteran having served with the 1st Battle Group, 47th Infantry and once discharged he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety, where he served for 30 years. They owned Reeves Safety, a safety business in Abilene for 18 years. Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lloyd and Jewel Reeves; wife, Mary Ann Reeves; brothers, Elroy Reeves and Delmer Reeves; sisters, Kathryn Boothe, Hazel Lee, Mary Ann Neblett. Kenneth is survived by his children Kenneth Jr. (Kenny) Reeves and his wife Lori of Abilene, Jimmy Reeves and his wife Cheryl of Liberty Hill, Justin Reeves and his wife Natalie of Anson, Lance Reeves and his wife Denise of Abilene; sisters, Barbara Hilchey of Longview and Mae Vaughn of Carthage; grandchildren: Jennifer Manuel and her husband Wes of Stephenville, Jolene Scobel of Corpus Christi, Kenny Reeves III and his girlfriend Carissa Karr of Stephenville, Michael Reeves of Abilene, Jake Reeves, Jason Reeves, Jayla Reeves, Dobie New and Dakota New of Liberty Hill, Preston Reeves, Bailey Reeves of Anson, Veronica Greene and Victoria Reeves of Abilene; great-grandchildren: Madison and Paighton Manuel and many nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be provided by the Department of Public Safety. He loved watching his grandchildren play in the various sports. He also had a love for his horses. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas 79605, or a charity of your choice. The Reeves family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Heaven, all nurses on the 6th and 7th Floor at Hendrick Hospital, Hendrick Hospice Care, Dwaine Williams, The Hamil Family Funeral Home, Potosi Baptist Church and the many friends that have expressed their love and support.
