Kenneth Lee Montfort

Kenneth Lee Montfort, 79, a longtime resident of Abilene passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Hendrick Medical Center. The son of Vera Stephens Montfort and Matt Harris Montfort, Kenneth was born on July 17, 1930, in Graham, Texas, where he was raised. Kenneth's family moved from Graham to Wichita Falls where he graduated from high school. He then attended the University of Texas and earned his Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1954. While in Wichita Falls, he also met his wife, Glenda Gail Pistocco, and the two were married for 56 years. The two began their married life together in Wichita Falls, and later moved to Albany, where Kenneth partnered with his father in the oil and gas industry running the Montfort Drilling Company. Kenneth and his family then moved to Abilene where he began his farming and ranching operations in Eastland County. Kenneth was preceded in death by both his parents. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Glenda Montfort of Abilene; his daughter Karen Lee Pena and husband Victor, of Cleburne; Helen Watson and husband Bob, of Taylor Lake Village; Brenda Ucherek and husband Bill, of Dallas; and his son Paul Montfort of Austin; six grandchildren, Stacey Pena Sliger and husband Claren, Amanda Watson, Rebecca Watson, Nick Ucherek, Jared Ucherek, and Walker Ucherek; and one great-grandson Caleb Sliger. Survivors also include two sisters, Frances Schmidt and Connie Montfort; his cousins, Ronnie Stephens, and wife, Barbara; Randy Stephens and wife, Becky; and his aunt Dorothy Stephens, all of Graham. The family received visitors on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park on Tuesday morning. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech Street, Abilene. Dr. Eduardo Rivera will officiate. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
