Kenneth O. Long, 89, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2009, in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Following the visitation, graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th, at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Highway 277 South, with the Rev. Bill Alexander officiating, assisted by Rev. David Black.
Kenneth Odel Long was born in Wilson, Oklahoma, to Crockett and Bonnie Long, on September 25, 1920. He married Alice L. King on May 14, 1942, in Ayer, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U. S. Army, participating in landings in the Philippines and Okinawa. He entered the electrical contracting business in 1951, and he owned and operated Long Electric Co.
Ken was a member of First United Methodist Church in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by two brothers, Aubrey C. Long and Homer L. Long.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, by his son K. O. and his wife, Marilyn, of Abilene, by his daughter, Patricia Long Armbruster and her husband, Fred, also of Abilene, by his grandchildren Tracy Arnold, and her husband Eric, of Nashville, Tennessee, Kelly Armbruster of The Colony, Texas, Scott Long and his wife, Meredith, of Dallas, Texas, and Matt Armbruster and his wife, Michelle, of Lubbock, Texas, and by his great-grandson Griffin Arnold of Nashville.
