Kenneth Claunch, 73, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at his residence in Abilene.
Born in Mulberry, Kansas on October 6, 1937, Kenneth was the son of Grace Thresa (Loftus) and William Harvey Claunch, Sr. He lived in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he married Linda Hibdon on January 18, 1959. In 1961, they moved from Hobbs to Greenville, South Carolina. After relocating to Abilene in 1966, Kenneth had been a self-employed piano technician, having begun his career in pianos with Steinway Piano Company.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William Harvey Claunch, Jr., James Harley Claunch and John Robert Claunch; and two sisters, Chrystal Edmondson and Goldine Latta.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Linda Claunch of Abilene; daughter, Cindy Claunch of Hawley; son, Steve Claunch of Dallas and daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Rowntree Claunch; and grandson, Ryan Claunch of Dallas. Survivors also include two brothers, Joe Claunch of Duncanville, Texas and Paul Claunch of Hobbs, New Mexico; two sisters, Fern Claunch of Hobbs and Eunice Patterson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of friends.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 14, in Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall on Cedar Street on the Hardin-Simmons University Campus in Abilene with Gaylan Claunch officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
