Kelley Clarence Cross

1925 — March 19, 2014

Kelley Clarence Cross, 88, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Windcrest Alzheimer’s Care Center in Abilene, Texas. Born in Coleman, Texas on November 1, 1925, Kelley was the son of D. A. and Della (Lynch) Cross. He served in the U.S. Army. Most of his life he lived in Abilene, where for 47 years he worked for the City of Abilene Street Department. After retiring from the City, he worked for a number of years as a crossing guard. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and served for many years at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church as well. In May of 1977 Kelley was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Josephine Nalley, whom he married on September 18, 1950 in Coleman. He married Edith Maida St. John on July 29, 1978 in Abilene, who also preceded him in death on October 11, 2009. Three brothers preceded him in death as well. Survivors include his son, David Seitz of Abilene; daughters, Arveda Seitz of Abilene and Dana Graham and husband David of Flower Mound, Texas; two grandsons, Caleb Graham and Justin Graham; and a nephew, Charles Cross. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, in Coleman City Cemetery in Coleman, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene. Memorials may be made to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church Child Development Center, 701 S. Pioneer Drive, Abilene, Texas 79605.
