Kathy Sue Spitler, 64, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Born in Abilene, Texas on December 27, 1951, Kathy was the daughter of Melba (Hudson) and Reagan Hay. A graduate of Hawley High School, she also received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1974, and a Master’s degree from Abilene Christian University in 1994. Kathy married Allan Spitler on August 18, 1990 at Wylie Baptist Church in Abilene. She was a retired nursing home administrator, having worked in Abilene, Brownwood and Coleman. She was a member of Clearfork Baptist Church in Hawley, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Reagan Hay, on July 24, 2003, and her mother, Melba Joyce Hudson Hay, on November 26, 2012.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Allan Spitler of Abilene, TX; sons, Clint Powell of Tuscola, TX and Michael Spitler of San Marcos, TX; daughters, Kara Galinak of Gatesville, TX and Michelle Spitler of Valatie, New York; a brother, Phil Hay and wife Gaye of Hawley, TX; a sister, Connie Klassen and husband Roger of Hawley, TX; six grandchildren, Bailie and Katelynn Galinak, Halle Gordy, Braxton, Parker and Whitleigh Faye Powell; two aunts, Judy Burrow of Sweetwater, TX and Joanne Horton of Colmesneil, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 8, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, at Clearfork Baptist Church, Hawley, TX with Dr. Larry Tarver officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery in Abilene.
