Kathryn Ann Petree, 92, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at a Stamford hospital. The daughter of Willie Annie (White) and Ernest H. Wylie, she was born on September 21, 1917 in Allen, Texas. A resident of Abilene since 1948, Kathryn moved to Stamford in 2004 to be near her daughter. Kathryn married Aubrey P. Petree on March 17, 1941 in Santa Anna, Texas. She worked as a sales clerk at S & Q Clothiers for eight years and in alterations at Grissom's for 20 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Abilene. Mrs. Petree was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey P. Petree in 1985; infant daughter, Judith Petree; parents; two brothers, Harry Wylie and Norval Wylie; and two sisters, Elizabeth Simpson and Margaret Sikes. Survivors include two daughters, Kay Mauldin and husband Wayne of Bandera, and Jane Ford and husband Lanny of Stamford; four granddaughters and husbands, Jenna Mason and Jeff, Kristy Decker and John, Kimberly Davis and Pokey, and Kelly Hendley and Kurt; eight great-grandchildren, PFC Dyllan Scott, USMC, Kaitlyn Scott, Parker Mason, Preston Mason, Kaylin Fey, Kamryn Fey, Braden Davis and Bryson Davis; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Kelly Pigott officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until the time the procession leaves going to the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
