Kay Waddell, 87, died Friday, November 24, 2006 in a local hospital. There will be a visitation at the Funeral Home, Sunday afternoon 1:00-3:00 p.m. A memorial service, with Reverend Dr. Clifford Stewart and Reverend Janice Six officiating, will be held Monday, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Central Presbyterian Church, 400 Orange Street, Abilene, Texas under the direction of the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Mrs. Waddell's body will lie in state at the funeral home until the service.
Kay was born April 17, 1919 in Wichita, Kansas to Albert Newton and Virginia (Corley) McQuown. She attended Wichita State University and graduated from the University of Texas where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She married Richard Kent Waddell on February 14, 1942.
Kay was a homemaker and a member of the First Central Presbyterian Church. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed travel and gardening.
Survivors include: her husband of fifty-four years, Kent Waddell of Abilene; four children, Meredith Lynn Waddell of New York, NY, Richard Kent Waddell, Jr. of Boulder, CO, Grady Waddell of Abilene, and Virginia Kay Waddell of Managua, Nicaragua; ten grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
