Katherine Bell McCarthy Bozarth Rhodes, 90, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at a local care facility. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jeff Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Katherine was born on May 21, 1916 in Sidney, Texas to Daniel Field and Sarah Ross McCarthy. She graduated from Sidney High School in 1934 and moved to Abilene in 1936 where she attended Parsons School of Cosmetology. Katherine married Henry Bozarth on October 2, 1936. A member of Wylie Methodist Church since 1936, she worked at Lankfords for 17 years and Dorica's originals for 8 years as a seamstress. She also worked at the Abilene State School for 12 years. She married Albert Rhodes in December of 1985.
Katherine was preceded in death by her first husband, William Henry Bozarth in 1966; her second husband, Albert Rhodes in 2006; her brothers, Doyle and Ray McCarthy; two sisters, Inez Haynie and Flora Gene Farr and a grandson, Matthew Scott Bozarth.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Bozarth of Potosi, Ray Bozarth of Crockett, and David Bozarth of Cedar Hill; two daughters, Frances Brookreson of Buffalo Gap and Rena Richardson of Abilene; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
