June Marie Burnett passed from this life Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Windcrest Alzheimer’s Care Center in Abilene after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She would have been 88 years of age on June 27th.
A graveside service will be held at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Road, at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20th. There will also be a viewing and visitation at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, on June 19th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
She married the love of her life, Willard “Pete” Burnett, in August of 1945. He preceded her in death in 2009. Her son, Michael Burnett, also preceded her in death in 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnston and her husband Curtis; her son, Steven Burnett and his wife Teresa; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was an amazing and loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all of her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved working in her yard. She was loved by all who had the pleasure to know her.
We wish to thank the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Windcrest and Hospice of the Big Country for all the loving care they provided to our mother and compassion they gave to her family.
