June Smith Bomar, 90, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Abilene. She was born on June 27, 1931 in Stith, TX to George Henry and Annie Smith.
Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, April 1 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 2 at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Brandye Harris and Mark Lemley will be officiating. Pallbearers are Corey Church, Randy Pitts, Gabriel Hendry, and Mark Lemley.
June married Adam Bomar on April 7, 1951 in Lawn, TX and they spent 32 years together. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church for over 60 years, and Red Hats. June worked in various places over the years, such as the Timex Watch Factory for 14 years, The Body Image, and the Eddie Krieger Pharmacy for over 20 years. She also worked as a Tupperware manager, a cake decorator for Safe Way, and she spent five years volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Wayne and George Smith, sister Mary Emma, and nephew Curtis Wayne Smith.
June is survived by her daughter Darwinna (Dee) Bomar, nieces Julie Ann Smith, Michelle Sitton, and Regina Kay Smith Warner, and great-niece and great-nephew, Abbi and Andy Sitton.
June’s daughter, Dee, would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Oaks Living & Rehabilitation, Hendrick Hospice Care, Corey, Debbie, and Taylor Church for all the extra TLC over the years, and to Bonnie Buchanan, her personal care companion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, Meals on Wheels, or Rescue the Animals.
