Judith Lewise Janda was born June 19th, 1944 at Ft. Benning, GA to Lewis and Clyde Janda. Her father was in the US Army preparing to ship out to the war in Europe. Judy, her mother and sisters Patricia and Phyllis stayed with her mother's family in Arkansas for the remainder of the war. They later returned to her father's home town of Lake Andes, SD where she grew up and spent the remainder of her childhood.
It was in Lake Andes at the Pheasant Tap where she would meet a young airman named Tom Harvey who was stationed with the Air Force in Pickstown, SD. They would go on to marry on June 18th, 1963 and begin their life together. Work would move them several places including Dallas, TX, Endicott, NY, back to Dallas and then finally to Abilene, TX in October of 1974 where they would live out their lives. Their oldest son David was born in October of 1967 and Greg would be born in March of 1970.
Judy's primary job in life was as a wife, mother and homemaker but started out in cosmetology as a hair dresser after high school. After Tom sold his business in Abilene, she and Tom built and ran the Store at Potosi for many years until retirement. She was actively involved with the Potosi United Methodist Church and her Potosi community until her passing. She loved traveling the country with Tom, water color painting and was an excellent cook and baker. She dearly loved her family, church, community and friends.
Judy passed away on April 9th, 2025 at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, TX. Judy is preceded in death by her mother and father Clyde and Lewis Janda, sisters Patricia (Harm) Westerhuis and Phyllis (Buck) Myers, son David Harvey as well as her husband Tom Harvey.
