Judith Ann Copsey, 78, formerly of Abilene, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24, 2019 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home. Dr. Jeff Reid will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Judith was born March 30, 1940 in Lake Mills, Wisconsin to Henry and Amanda Michel. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1958 and married Donald O. Copsey in Lake Mills on July 3rd the same year. When Donald passed in 2015, they had been married for over 57 years. The Air Force took them to several different countries and states before they came to Abilene in August of 1973. She loved her family and enjoyed sharing new adventures with them as they traveled from place to place. She was active in the Baptist Church wherever they lived and at the time of her passing was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene.
Judith was a homemaker and later worked outside the home for many years in Abilene at McDonalds and Bealls. During retirement years, she enjoyed being part of the Lone Star Steppers Line Dancers at Rose Park and participating in the SilverSneakers program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters and her husband. Judith is survived by two daughters, Tammy Roman and husband Richard of Lilburn, GA; Brenda Allred and husband Jerry of Leander; two sons, Donald R. Copsey and wife Kim of Bossier City, LA; Ronald Copsey and wife Amy of Flower Mound; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
