Juanita Corbett Brooks, 83, of Abilene and formerly of Breckenridge, died Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Born in Caddo, Texas on March 12, 1929, Juanita was the daughter of Jessie (Elledge) and Lee Corbett. She married Robert Brooks in Stephens County. In 1995, she moved from Breckenridge to Abilene.
Juanita's life was centered around her kids. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved watching her kids and grandkids playing baseball. Juanita was an avid Texas Rangers fan. She also loved playing Forty-two, Poker, Bingo, and any other game of chance, as well as collecting coins.
She worked as a devoted caregiver, and was a Christian.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Brooks, in 1969; four brothers, John Tom, Myrl, Bill and Happy Corbett; and four sisters, Pat, Sue, Curley, and twin sister Marquita.
Survivors include five sons, Alton Louis Brooks and wife Robbin of Abilene; Robert Jeryold Brooks of Fort Worth, Gregory Gene Brooks and wife Tammy of Breckenridge, Stuart Zachery Brooks and wife Kelly of Fort Worth, and Billy Jack Gavit and wife Heather of Leander; two daughters, Marcy Lee Daniels and husband Charlie of Finley, Oklahoma, and Norma J'Nell Borho and husband Duane of Abilene; 19 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Sunday, August 12, in Bee Branch Cemetery in Stephens County, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
