Joyce Thompson

Joyce Thompson, 78, died Saturday, September 12, 2009, at an Abilene medical center. The daughter of Selma (Kunkel) and Charles Manske, Joyce as born on September 21, 1930 in Ballinger, Texas, where she married Wayne Pearson Thompson on March 31, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2006. She was a homemaker. Joyce was a member of Wylie Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Potosi Extension Club. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters. Joyce is survived by sons, Kevin Thompson of Abilene and Neal Thompson and wife, Marcia, of Tehachapi, California; daughter, Melanie Thompson of Austin; sisters, Addie Stuart of San Angelo and Frances Spieker of Mineral Wells; and four grandchildren, Erik, Katelyn, Blaine and Kyle. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, at Wylie Baptist Church. Interment will be in Potosi Cemetery directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
