Joyce Gwendolyn Smith, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
She was born in Franklin, Texas on December 24, 1930. Joyce retired from Smitty’s Malt Bar in Abilene, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey C. “Smitty” Smith; one son, James Robison Smith; parents, Willie George Parrish and Erma Dell Parrish; and a sister, Barbara Cannon.
Survivors include one son, Harvey Smith, Jr. of Abilene; three daughters, Cynthia White and husband Raymond of Arlington, Barbara Broyles and husband Michael of Grand Prairie, and Mary Smith-Fowler and husband Jim of Abilene; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by two brothers, Alvin Parrish and wife Tina of Abilene and George Parrish of Houston; three sisters, Mary Graham and husband Bud of Abilene, Betty Griggs of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and Jeraldine Piskur and husband Jon of Vermillion, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, in the Elmwood Memorial Park Garden of Faith with Rev. Kevin Kennedy officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
