Joyce Dixon Levrets, 90, a lifelong resident of the Abilene area, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in Abilene, TX.
Born in Jones County, Texas on August 19, 1934, Joyce was the daughter of Thelma Faye (Beasley) Dixon and Roy W. Dixon. She was a 1952 graduate of Abilene High School. She married her child-hood sweetheart, Monroe Levrets on June 6, 1953 at Caps Baptist Church. She taught children's Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years at Caps. She was a long-time member of Wylie Baptist Church.
Joyce was a banker for over 35 years at First State Bank in Abilene and First State Bank-Wylie. She began her career as a telephone operator and worked tirelessly to become a vice-president at First State-Wylie. Many of her friends (customers) knew her as the "face" and the "voice" of the bank. She was involved in many community organizations including the Abilene Chamber of Commerce. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Hendrick Medical Center for many years. Joyce and Monroe also travelled the world while Monroe was involved in the International Business Technology Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Eva James, Loyce LLoyd (her twin), and Peggy Allred; a great-grandson Cole Alan Levrets; and her loving husband Monroe.
Joyce is survived by two sons, Greg Levrets and wife Debra of Abilene, TX and Randy Levrets and wife Stacey of Eula, TX; a brother Roy Dixon of Roanoke, TX; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday February 9, 2025 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday February 10, 2025 at Wylie Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Harkrider officiating. Burial will follow at the Drummond Cemetery in View, TX.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wade Levrets, Reid Levrets, Jeff Koslan, Jake Allred, Jared Allred and Mike Farmer.
