Joyce Evelyn Hill

Joyce Evelyn Hill, 84, of Abilene passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, March 2, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Greg Rake will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at the Dumas Cemetery in Dumas, Texas; directed by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Joyce was born December 2, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to C. C. Fletcher and Thelma (Stinson) Fletcher. She grew up in Dumas, Texas and graduated from Dumas High School in 1951.

In 1975, Joyce moved to Abilene where she was employed in education at the Abilene ISD for 18 years in the Student Achievement Center "SAC". She was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan and she loved dogs. Joyce was a member of First Christian Church in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jean McGuire.

Joyce is survived by her son, Duane Hill and wife Janet of Eastland; her daughter, Becky Lewis and husband Greg of Dumas; two brothers, Jack Fletcher of Huntsville and P.D. Fletcher of Amarillo; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as many, many friends.

Memorials may be to the Class of 1951 Dumas High School Scholarship Fund or to the donor's favorite charity.
