Joyce E. Crutcher, 97, of Abilene, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Abilene.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Patterson, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Joyce was born on December 16, 1923 in St Maries, Idaho to James and Ida Hailey. She graduated from St Maries High School and later attended nursing school at St. Lukes School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington. After graduation she became a Navy Nurse and was stationed at United States Naval Hospital, in Shoemaker California. There she met her soon to be husband, Jimmie Allen Crutcher. They were married on May 10, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1997.
Joyce worked as a Registered Nurse at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She moved to Abilene from El Paso in 2005.
Joyce is survived by one daughter, Robin Timmons of Abilene; one son, Michael Crutcher and wife Dona of Shelbina, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ryane Tabor and husband Terry, John Crutcher and wife Andrea, Richard Pelton, Jr., and TeAna Tramel and husband Matt; and seven great grandchildren.
Family suggests memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
