Jose Luis Bautista

Jose Luis Bautista, 57, of Abilene, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Templo Bautista Church, 1073 Sycamore St. in Abilene, Texas. Rev. Lionel Jimenez will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abilene Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Jose was born November 23, 1956 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Eluterio and Eloria (Torres) Bautista. In 1976, Jose moved to Abilene, Texas where he has worked for Bill Starks Construction for 35 years. He married Irene Cortinez in Anson, Texas on September 1, 1979. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Jose was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eluterio and Eloria Bautista; two children, Frank Medina and Martha Wellborn; and a daughter-in-law, Isabel Medina. Jose is survived by his wife, Irene Bautista of Abilene; children: Sal Medina of Abilene, Eddie Medina of Denton, Irene Chipe Medina of Abilene, Jeanette Gaona, Noemi Martinez, Alice Lima, Raul Medina, Elizabeth Carrion, Samuel Medina and Moises Medina; three sisters, Teresa, Rocio and Esperanza; 27 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Isaac Medina, Jacob Medina, Michael Martinez, Junei Medina, Jesse Flores and Marcelino Martinez. The family of Jose would like to extend a special thanks to Bill Starks.
