Jonathon Slaughter

Jonathon Slaughter, 31, of Austin, passed away Tuesday, October 3. He was born on February 27, 1992, at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, to Brian and Donna (Wright) Slaughter.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 8 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 9, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, with Rodney Watson of Lytle South Baptist Church officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Myles Hammack, Zach Hawkins, Kevin Kocurek, Will Tipps, Michael Falkoski, Jacob Johnson, Eric Sunday, and Nathan Hubbard.

Jonathon attended Wylie High School in Abilene, where he played football and went to the state championship with the team in 2009. He graduated in 2010 and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Hardin Simmons University. He furthered his education even more by getting his MBA from Hardin Simmons.

Jonathon’s love for sports did not end with the Wylie Bulldogs football team. He loved Texas teams, especially the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and San Antonio Spurs. In his free time, Jonathon was somewhat of a bourbon connoisseur, travelling and collecting rare bourbons from across the state. He also enjoyed going to country music concerts, hiking, and going to state parks.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Slaughter, grandparents, Mary Virginia Wright, Jesse Wright, Sam Slaughter, and Donna Slaughter, and uncle, James Wright.

Jonathon is survived by his parents, Brian and Donna Slaughter; grandmother, Betty Jo Wright; sister, Katelyn Slaughter and fiancé Alex Soto, and Alex’s son, Abraham, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will all miss him dearly.
