Johnny Whisenhunt

Johnny Wayne (Whiz) Whisenhunt passed away on February 23, 2023, in Abilene Texas. 

Visitation will be on March 2, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm, and services will be at 2:00 pm on March 3, 2023, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Reverend Scott Seymour officiating.

Johnny was born in Merkel Texas on December 27, 1945, to Dewey and Glen Whisenhunt. He graduated from Merkel High School in 1963 and joined the Texas National Guard and served for 4 years during the Vietnam War. He married Jill Ann Waggoner on September 29, 1984, and they had one son Treavor. He worked for Central Texas Iron Works for 22 years and Crown for 18 years. Johnny attended Rose Park Senior Activity Center and volunteered there for 13 years. 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dewey and Glen Whisenhunt, a sister Barbara Wilson, and a brother Jimmy. He is survived by his son Treavor Whisenhunt and wife Maggie Mae of Highland Village TX, brother Jackie and wife Janet of Abilene TX, sister-in-law Nita Whisenhunt and brother-in-law Jim Wilson, and many nieces and nephews.
