John C. Skeen

Retired SFC John C. Skeen John C. Skeen, 89, of Tye, Texas passed away on Friday, November 6, 2009 in Seagoville, Texas. John Skeen was born in Lebanon, Tennessee to Doyle Skeen and Irma Kate Perkins on March 1, 1920. He went to school in Lebanon. He married Jean Harris on February 27, 1965 in Abilene, Texas. John worked as a US Postal Worker for 18 years. He was a veteran of World War II and The Korean War, and served in the Army for 22 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 6873 and Military Order of the Cooties. John was preceded in death by his father Doyle Skeen, mother Irma Perkins, brother Robert Skeen, and sister Katherine Vaughn. John Skeen is survived by his wife Jean Skeen, son Johnny Skeen, daughter Tina Bennett, step-daughter Becky Schmidt, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. The family of John Skeen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to The VNA Hospice nursing team in Kaufman, Texas. A private entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
