John Arthur Marquez, age 42 of Abilene, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 15th, at 2 p.m. at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with Father Terry Brenon officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Abilene Cemetery - Masonic Section under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tino Marquez, John Andre Marquez, James Marquez, Brian Salsbury, Vincent Marquez, II, Patrick Marquez, Jason Miller, Jeffrey Marquez and Justin Marquez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joshua Marquez, Keros Marquez, Kasey Marquez, Kyler Marquez, Philip Sharp, Thomas Sharp and Isaac Sharp. Rosary will be held Wednesday, September 14th at 7 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, Tx. John Arthur Marquez was born on January 1, 1963 in Abilene, Texas to parents Alfredo C. Marquez and Emily Garcia Marquez. John was a lifelong resident of Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1981. John was employed by Wal-Mart and also owned and operated his own business, Lawn Maintenance of Abilene, for many years. He was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church. John is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents: Alfredo and Emily Marquez, of Abilene; a son: Rusty Jason Miller, of Abilene; three brothers: Vance and Elva Marquez, of Austin; Joe and Karen Marquez, of Corpus Christi; and Vincent Marquez, of Abilene. Also three sisters: Virginia Salsbury, of Waco; Anita and Frank Bartek, of Brownwood; and Elizabeth and Ken Sharp, of Waco. Also a special aunt: Gloria "Tia" Garcia, of Abilene; and Uncle Frank Garcia, of California; along with twenty-seven nieces and nephews and seventeen great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the M.D. Anderson Children's Art Project, P.O. Box 301435, Houston, Texas 77230-1435.
