John D. Lohnes, Sr, 79, of Melrose, NY passed away on October 13th in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20th at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 21st at the Texas State Veteran's Cemetery with the Randy Turner of Beltway Church officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
John D. Lohnes, Sr. was born in Melrose, NY to Paul and Leona Lohnes on 31st of December in 1941. He married Andrea Gallardo on November 18th on 1965 in Panama. He was a retiree from the United States Air Force as an Awards and Separations Specialist for USAF for 20 years active duty. Then, he became a civil servant returning to the Personnel Separations Department and achieved a second retirement of a second 20 years. He served the USAF for a total of 40 years.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting baseball cards. He was also known for creating memorable meals for holidays and various activities, church and other types of gatherings. John was always that welcoming person ready to share a laugh.
John D. Lohnes, Sr. is survived by his loving wife Andrea Lohnes to whom he has been married to for 55 years, and his two children John D. Lohnes, Jr. and Melissa Neese who is married to John Neese and their daughter Annabelle. He is also survived by brothers Paul Lohnes and his wife Elizabeth, David Lohnes, Stephen Lohnes and his wife Karen, Joseph Lohnes and a sister Rebecca Lohnes, along with many caring nieces and nephews.
