John B. Kent

John B. Kent, 72, died Friday, November 14, 2014 at an Abilene medical center. John was born on June 23, 1942 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and graduated from Pawhuska High School in 1960 before attended trade school. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. John was an electronic technician for 27 years, having worked as an Avionics Technician for Texas Aerospace, Abilene Aero and Chaparral Airlines. He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene. John was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Lillian Kent; brothers, Jim Kent and Clifford Anderson; and sisters, Helen Sterling and Roberta Thornton. John is survived by his wife, Patricia Mary Kent of Abilene; son Steve Kent and wife Bernadine of Cartagena, Columbia; daughter, Melissa Beasley and husband John of Hamby, Texas; grandchildren, Breanna Beasley and Kyle Kent; and one sister, Gayle Harrison of Troop, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Sam Matthiesen officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Food Bank of West Central Texas and Hendrick Hospice Care. The family of John Kent wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Nelson, TC, Dr. Sam Daggubati, Dr. Nancy Daggubati, Dr. Tammy Stojanovi, and Dr. Abe Fakhoury for their wonderful care and support. We thank Josh RN in TC, Mavic Yoes RN ICU, Tam Luedtke Director of CCS, Paulette Narag RN CCS, Judy Galbreath RN House Supervisor, and to Sarah & Brannon RN night shift. To all of the Code Team and the wonderful RT’s. We couldn’t have had better care anywhere else! So many truly loving people. I thank Father Fred Nawarskas for his support and presence during our two day stay in hospital.
