John Edward Davis, Jr., 57, of Austin, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 in Abilene. Memorial services will be held at a later date. John's wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in Ranger Canyon in Alpine, Texas. Local arrangements were handled by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
December 20, 1951, John was born in Abilene, Texas to John Edward Davis, Sr. and Dolores (Daniels) Davis. He graduated from Midland High School and the University of Texas in 1976. Austin had been John's home for the past 30 years. John owned Ranger Canyon Press where he worked as a Cartographer. His specialty was making maps of the great state of Texas.
John is survived by his parents, John and Dolores Davis, of Abilene; two daughters, Laura Scace and her husband Sam, of Austin and Carolyn Davis, also of Austin, and one brother, Ben Davis and his wife Suzanne, of Houston, Texas.
