John Earl Beall

John Earl Beall went to live with the Lord on Saturday February 26, 2011, he was 83 years old. John was a Christian, a husband and father, a businessman, a home and church builder, a developer of communities and man involved in the community and with people. He felt everyone should get a compliment each day, "to make them feel better". Born June 27, 1927 in Graham, Texas, the son of Benjamin and Sallie Beall, John was the fourth of seven children, including Leonard, Herman Carroll, Annie, Thomas Judson, Helen, and Billy. A graduate of Albany High School in 1946, he graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from Ranger Junior College. John was a veteran, a member of the US Army who served in the South Pacific, World War II. Married to Ruby Esther Hudman June 5, 1949, they had three children John Carroll, Sally Elizabeth, and Vita Jo. John was a businessman, home builder, former mayor and City Council member in city of Albany. He organized and served on the board for the Albany Fandangle for many years. He came to Abilene in 1970, building over 500 homes in the area during his long career. During his career in Abilene John served as Director of the National Association of Homebuilders for Abilene, President of the Abilene Homebuilders Association, Chairman of the Parade of Homes, a lifetime member of Abilene Board of Realtors, and a 50-year member of the Texas Real Estate Commission. One of his most cherished accomplishments was the completion of development of Mesquite Forrest Estates. John was a Mason and a lifetime member of the Albany Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He was on the board of the Academy of Freedom Foundation at Howard Payne University. John was voted Abilene's Favorite Home Builder three consecutive years, and received the Torch Award for Business Ethics from the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Beall was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister; and his first wife, Ruby Esther Beall in 1994. He married Paula Gillett Weatherman on December 12, 1997 in Abilene. John is survived by his wife, Paula Beall of Abilene; son, John Carroll Beall and wife Debbie of Abilene; daughters, Sally Maxey and husband Bill of Albany, and Vita Jo Weehunt of Brownwood; sister, Helen Ruth Knowles of Abilene; seven grandchildren, Kevin Tate and wife Emily, Scott Hearne, Kimberly Beall, Mandi Joiner and husband Dave, Rhyn Weehunt, Jud Beall and wife Amber, and Michael Weehunt; three great-grandchildren, Kailey and Madison Tate and John Grayson Beall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Survivors also include his stepsons, Brian Seth Weatherman of Austin and Christopher Paul Weatherman and wife Amanda of Abilene; stepdaughter, Rebecca Weatherman of Abilene; and three step grandchildren, Scott, Emily and Isaac Weatherman. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Lytle South Baptist Church, 1125 E. Industrial Blvd. in Abilene, officiated by Rev. Rodney Watson and Dr. Truman Turk. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Albany Cemetery in Albany, Texas directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the funeral home. John's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
