Joe Villarreal, 71, of Abilene, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, in the chapel at the funeral home.
August 12, 1936, Joe was born the son of the late Pedro Villarreal and Francisca (Diaz) Villarreal in Star County, Texas. He graduated from Brownfield High School. Abilene has been Joe's home for the past 35 years. He worked in the shipping and receiving department for BANDAG. Joe was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jesse Villarreal, and one sister, Belen Morin. Joe is survived by Deliciosa Trice, of Abilene; three sons, Joe Louis Villarreal and his wife Elida, of Fort Worth, Pedro and Tommy Ray Villarreal, both of Charlotte, Texas; two step-sons, William Roy Trice III and his wife Klyde, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Thomas Allen Trice, III and his wife Elizabeth, of Plano, Texas; one step-daughter, Ina Mary Trice, of the Philippines; four brothers, Raul Villarreal, of Mission, Texas, Pedro Villarreal, of Michigan, Joel and Lupe Villarreal, both of Victoria, Texas; two sisters, Maria Morin, of Brownfield, Texas, and Ramona Mendolla, of California; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
