Joe Seaborn

1940 — September 15, 2022

William Joe Seaborn of Tuscola died Thursday, Sept. 15, after a sudden illness. He was 82.

Born on April 20, 1940, in Winters to John and Gladys (Simpson) Seaborn, Joe grew up in Buffalo Gap and attended Wylie High School. He married Claudia Maxine Henson on Nov. 29, 1959, in Abilene. He worked for many years at Central Texas Iron Works and then for the City of Abilene, retiring in 2002.

Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor. He could be both goofy and deliver a well-timed joke. He’ll also be remembered as a talented craftsman who often did things his own way even if they weren’t the “right” way and for his various passing hobbies, which included drawing and painting, collecting baseball cards, fishing and raising goats.

Joe is survived by his wife, Maxine; son Jody Seaborn and daughter-in-law Michelle Breyer; daughters Tammy Seaborn and Traci Smith and son-in-law Reed Smith; and sister Shirley Thompson and sister-in-law Donna Seaborn.

He is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses: Sheila Seaborn-Huff and Shayla Huff, Jonathan Seaborn and Lyndsey Carmichael Seaborn, Amy Seaborn, Lyra Seaborn and Kyle Smith. Three great-grandchildren also survive him: Madison Lancaster, Keira Newton and Isla Seaborn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Nolan Seaborn.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
