Joe Bryan
Joe Bryan, 64, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at a local hospital.
Born in Abilene, Texas on August 8, 1947, Joe was the son of Frances (Hester) and I. G. Bryan, Jr. He was a U. S. Army veteran of Vietnam. For 27 years, Joe lived in Tahoka, Texas, having been a building contractor, city police officer and Deputy Sheriff in Lynn County. He was a Baptist.
Joe married Cynthia Parker in Tahoka. He moved back to Abilene in 1999 after retiring. Joe was a Cushman motor scooter enthusiast. He rebuilt and enjoyed riding them.
His parents; a granddaughter, Emily Ann Bryan; and one brother, George Robert "Bob" Bryan, preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Parker Bryan of Abilene; son, Kurt Bryan and wife Lee Ann of Abilene; daughter, Kerri Bryan and husband Eric Fleming of Round Rock, Texas; five grandchildren, Bethany Moore, Jordan Elrod, Parker Bryan, Grant Fleming and Claire Fleming; and four great-grandchildren, Madison Clark, Payton Moore, Cadence Moore and Cecily Moore. He is also survived by two sisters, Ann Goforth and husband Bob of Cullman, Alabama, and Kay Watson of Abilene, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene with Rev. Rhonda Greenwood and Rev. Todd Keller officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
