Jimmy Queen

Jimmy Don Queen, age 66, was called home on July 16, 2023 after a short battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 19 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 20 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Jimmy was born in Abilene, TX on August 26, 1956 to Sam S. Queen, Sr. and Margie Z. Queen, spending most of his life in Abilene.

He was an independent master plumber before he began his career in fire protection as an independent, then opening his own company, JQ Fire Protection, in 2013, serving multiple states. He and his wife, Mailyn, have resided in Eula, TX since 1994.

His hobbies included motorcycles, four-wheelers, and he loved drag racing. He loved everything with an engine, except the lawn mower. Jimmy was a very hard-working man who was constantly making improvements to his home and landscapes to make a better life for his family. He was a good friend to everyone he encountered and never met a stranger. He had a wry sense of humor, always providing a laugh or crazy story to keep everyone entertained. He was the life of every event he was at.

Jimmy is survived by his loving and beautiful wife Mailyn, his children Misty Ratcliff and husband Cory, Shane Queen, Jeremy Cooley and wife Heather, JD Cooley and wife Amie, and Jamie Tackett and husband Bobby.

Siblings are Sam S. Queen Jr. and wife Christy, Jerry L. Queen and wife Cindi, and Rita Acosta and husband Roy. Grandchildren: Jordyn, Haise, Brexlee and Maylee Tackett; Ashtyn and Stoney Cooley; Miranda, Hunter, Dakota, and Makayla Ratcliff; Chelsea, Gabriela, Lane, and Kassie Moya, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
