Jimmie Allen Guthrie, Age 86, passed away on February 8, 2017. He was born October 8, 1930, in Nolan County.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, on February 10, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at the Hamil Family Funeral Home at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Burial will be at the Nolan County Cemetery at 3:00 pm following the service. Arrangements are made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Jimmie was born to Bessie and Vernon/Bill Guthrie on October 8, 1930. He graduated from Divide High School in Nolan, Texas. He married Jo Ann Strickland on November 4, 1949. To this union was born two sons, Russell Allen Guthrie and Vernon Vince Guthrie, two daughters, Threesa Fawn Scott, and Elizabeth Suzanne Jackson, followed by eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In 1987, Jimmie married Elna Jean Moore, and they celebrated twenty-nine years of marriage on August 8, 2016. Jean's children are Pat Moore Michael and Michael Moore and all their children.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Bessie and Vernon/Bill Guthrie, his wife, Elna Jean Guthrie, and one son, Wesley Bill Guthrie.
Surviving is one sister, Sue White from Brownwood, Texas, and brother-in-law David Mooreman from Huntsville, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Ray Barnett; Wendal Lee; Jason & Jimmy Wilson; Steve Clark; & Darrell Sowell.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Bronte Volunteer Fire Department, at P. O. Box 210, Bronte, TX 76933
