Jim Ritter

James “Jim” Ritter, 78, of Tye, passed away Friday, December 9, 2022.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 14 at Tye Baptist Church, with burial following at Round Mound Cemetery in Hamby.

Jim was born on April 15, 1944, in Plainview, TX to James Leonard Ritter, Sr. and Rilla Ruth (Eason) Ritter. He married Janie (Beasley) Ritter on June 23, 1963, in Plainview. Jim served the Lord as a Baptist Minister for 52 years at numerous churches, including Plainview, Tye Baptist, and Hamby Baptist. He also worked part time at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, where he was a blessing to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Leonard Ritter, Sr. and Ruth Ritter, and two brothers Bill and Don Ritter.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Janie Ritter; son, Shane Ritter and wife Rhogenia; grandchildren, Kyle Edwards and Seth Ritter and wife Heidi; great-granddaughter, Iyana Lopez, and one soon to be great-grandson, Austin James Ritter.

Pallbearers will be Shane Ritter, Seth Ritter, Kyle Edwards, Trey Beasley, Tory Thrasher, and Lane Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be James Bench, Tyler Beasley, Tanner Beasley, Hayden Johnson, Duaine Williams, and Malford Greenhaw.

Jim’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Melnyk, Dr. Shudde, Dr. Brown, and all of the staff on the 2nd, 5th, and 6th floors of Hendrick Medical Center, North.
