Rev. Jim Ray Mosley, 77, of Abilene, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 18th at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Chambers will officiate assisted by Rev. Stan Allcorn. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Jim was born November 3, 1934 in Anson, Texas to James Henry and R.D. (Wilbern) Mosley. He grew up in Grand Falls, Texas where he graduated from high school.
Jim was a Baptist minister for over 50 years. He had pastored many places including: Avoca, Plains, Wilson, O'Donnell, Ackerly, Colorado City, Westbrook, Hico, Snyder, Ira, Lamesa and Anson. He had also served as interim pastor for several churches in the Abilene area. At the time of his death, Jim was the Associate Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Abilene.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jimmye Sue Mosley, two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Mosley, of Abilene; one son, David Mosley and wife Betsy of Abilene; two daughters, Gay Haigood and husband Chuck of Portland, and Laurie Burton and husband Bo of Abilene; two step-sons, George Robert Drake and wife Bonnie of Ft. Worth, and Gregory Dale Drake and wife Amy of Leander; two step-daughters, Marsha Lou Conner and husband Jay of Austin, and Tama Lori Drake of Abilene; one brother, Bill Mosley and wife Shirley of Abilene; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven step-granddaughters, two step-great-grandsons, three step-great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
