Jim Malone, 63 of Abilene passed away peacefully on May 12, 2016 after a brave battle with brain cancer.
Jim was born on April 27, 1953 in Abilene, the only child to Omer Dee and Geraldine Boyd Malone. A lifelong resident of Abilene, Jim spent his childhood playing little league baseball and running around with his buddies. The bonds he forged as a child grew stronger throughout the years. He loved his friends, fast cars, and sports. On November 30, 1973, he married the love of his life, Jane Antilley. Together they had 3 beautiful daughters, and 42 wonderful years of marriage. He started Malone Insulation in 1988, and ran it until his diagnosis in March of 2015. Every builder he worked with he considered more a friend than a customer. Jennifer and family will continue the family business and carry on his legacy. He was a successful man by any measure, but his greatest accomplishment was being surrounded by the many people who loved him.
His love of sports was only eclipsed by his love of family and friends. The time he spent with his girls playing with and coaching them in sports was a treasure to him. One of his many passions was golf. Always the life of the party, he was the man everyone wanted on their team. His quick wit and scratch game were enjoyed by all, but the friendships he made were more valuable than the game itself.
Jim was always ready for another adventure to create memories. Family vacations, road trips, and spending time with his priceless grandchildren were the most important times to him. The many memories he created with those he loved are precious, and will always be cherished.
He led the battle with strength and dignity. Never once during his fight did his confidence waver, or his resolve falter. Jim was truly an example of courage and bravery.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Omer Dee and Geraldine Malone; father and mother-in-law Milton and Nell Antilley; brother-in-law, Mack Antilley; and nephew Aaron Shafer.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Jane; daughter Jennifer McDaniel of Abilene; daughter Jill Pearson, and husband Wes of Midland; daughter Jaime Malone and Nacoma Strain of North Richland Hills; grandson Jaxon McDaniel and Cassandra Pineda of Austin; granddaughters Jaden McDaniel of Abilene, and Blakely and Brooklyn Pearson of Midland; sister-in-law Nancy Shafer and husband Leroy of Missouri City; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
The family wishes to thank all the friends and family who constantly offered their encouragement and prayers. The family would also like to thank Dr. Stella Ameachi and Nurse Audrey and all the Hendricks Hospice Care staff, the nurses and Dr. Lauren Templeton for their love and compassion.
