Jessie Bernice (Pat) Patterson, 94, formerly of Abilene, passed away in Wichita Falls, Texas on October 7, 2014.
The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 12, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 13, in the I.O.O.F. Section of the Abilene Municipal Cemetery.
Pat was born to Jerry B. Patterson and Ollie M. Cannon Patterson on September 22, 1920 in Lawn, Texas. He attended school in Abilene while living with his uncle who was county sheriff and lived in the jail.
After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Pat worked for Continental Emsco from which he retired after a 45-year career. He then worked for Bourland Leverich Supply Company, Inc. 20 years. For more than sixty years he sold oil rigs and pipelines to some of the most respected and successful people in the petroleum business.
He was honored in 2012 for 60 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Knights Templer. Pat was a member of First United Methodist Church.
An avid golfer, Pat made three hole-in-ones during his golfing years, one being while he was in his 80’s.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Newman Patterson of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Patricia A. Dutko and husband Steve, of Auburn, Washington, and Donna L. Randolph and husband Richard of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Stephen Dutko, Patrick Randolph and wife Shelby, and Loren Thomas and husband Jon; three great-grandsons, Rhett Randolph, Rhys Randolph and Logan Thomas; sisters-in-law, Tommie Underwood and Katie Poer; nephews, John Poer and wife Kathy and Ted Gregg and wife Jayne; and nieces, Terrie Whitehead and husband Robert, and Frances Poer.
The family expresses sincere thanks to all care givers, the staff of The Gables at Rolling Meadows, and Hospice of Wichita Falls for their compassionate care of Mr. Patterson.
