Jess W. Cross

Jess W. Cross, 95, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his residence in Abilene, Texas. Born in Estancia, New Mexico on July 16, 1918, Jess was the son of Dovie (Arnold) and Willie Franklin Cross. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps, and later worked for the City of Sweetwater as Water Superintendent. He was a member of Sylvester Baptist Church in Sylvester, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Ham Cross; parents; sister, Canevah Turner, and brother, William Arnold Cross. Survivors include two sons, James Cross of Abilene, and C.A. Fenley of Peralto, NM; three grandchildren, Gary Fenley of Albuquerque, NM, Jess Cross of Fort Worth, and Greg Fenley of Las Lunas NM; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Morales, Ronald Kaercher, Clint Cross, Greg Cross, John Cross and Paul Middleton. Honorary pallbearers will be George Cross, Greg Simon and Will Scott. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Sylvester Baptist Church in Sylvester with Scott Hensley officiating.
