Jerrell Kenneth Drummond, Sr. (J.K.), 87, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at a Ft. Worth hospital. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha, of 64 years, his parents and other relatives.
He was born in Caps, Texas on September 13, 1925. Kenneth was the son of Carrie Dail (Booth) Drummond and Arthur Henry Drummond. He was a lifelong resident of Caps, Texas. Kenneth was a trapper, dairy farmer, salvage man, welder and rancher in Caps for many years.
Kenneth was a longtime member of the Caps United Methodist Church where he was instrumental in the physical and spiritual development of the church. He shared many fun stories with the Caps-View communities.
Poppa is survived by his son, Jerry Drummond, wife Nancy Lynn and granddaughter Katlyn of Abilene; daughter, Joy Kusel, husband Doug and grand dog Duke, of North Richland Hills and grandson, Jarred “Tito” Drummond, wife Rachelle and great granddaughter Aubrie, all of Big Spring.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Interment will follow in Drummond Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family expresses special thanks to hospitals and nursing staff for their loving care of Kenneth during his illness.
