Jenny Ellen O’Docharty Thomas died at home December 15, 2018 in Breckenridge, Texas. She was born July 8, 1932 in Ft. Worth, Texas to William O’Docharty and Gladys Carter. She married her high School sweetheart, J. L. “Rock” Thomas, on November 29, 1948 in Walters, Oklahoma. They were married 63 years. Rock died Feb. 25, 2012. She never stopped missing him.
She was instrumental in starting the family businesses, Thomas Operating Company, Inc., The Re-Entry People, Inc. and an oil production company that was named after one of the ancestors that first came to Texas from Ireland, Susanna Corporation that is still in business. She was the backbone of the family. She was a true Irish Mom with beautiful auburn hair. You always wanted her on your side and never wanted her mad at you.
She had a real skill of writing and loved to read. Had the opportunity ever arrived she would have been an accomplished author.
She was elated when she became a great grandmother on May 30, 2018. She wanted to be called Gigi and called Kailyn “Kiki.” Even in her darkest times of battling dementia she always responded to KiKi.
In the years since Rock died, she and her daughter, Karen, had become even closer than before. She was a unique individual.
The family would like to thank Dr. Prater, Barbara Medina, Father Adams, Renew Health Care, Solaris Hospice and Conniece Merson for their loving care they gave Jenny.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Karen Martin of Breckenridge, Texas, son and daughter-in-law Guy and Nelda Thomas of Abilene, Texas, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Mary Thomas of Abilene, Texas, granddaughter and her husband, Jama Lea and Billy Wiggins and great granddaughter Kailyn Wiggins of Abilene, special friend Sissy Shimp of Scottsdale, Arizonia and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rock, parents, sister Vanita “Sally” Rogers and son-in-law Ronald Martin.
