Jennie B. Qualls entered into the Courts of Heaven to be greeted by her Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born on October 15, 1925 to John Hodges Trigg and Sarah Clementine Bow Trigg in Wellman, Texas. She was a resident of Wesley Court and had lived in Abilene for most of her life. She married Jack W. Qualls, her loving husband of 71 years, on May 22, 1944. She devoted the rest of her life to serving God and her family with such love and grace. Jennie was an avid seamstress, always making beautiful clothes for her children and other children in need. She perfected the art of homemaking, and was an incredible cook. Jennie was a Bible Class Teacher at 12th & Chestnut St. Church of Christ and Southern Hills Church of Christ. She was always a teacher at home to her children. She prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to have faith in Christ and make Godly choices in their lives. Jennie made friends everywhere she went. Blessed with the gift of encouragement, all kinds of people were drawn to her. She had a sincere interest in, and love for others.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, six children and their spouses. Son, Jackie and wife Sharon of Abilene; Daughters and Sons-in-Law include Melinda & Jon McLain of Salado, Martha & Ron McClung of Waxahachie, Myra & Kim Richmond of Allen, Maria & Gary White of Abilene, and Marla & Tim Truitt of Temple. Jennie has 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one brother, Al Trigg of Roswell, N.M. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Keith McClung.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 28th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Church of Christ Chapel, 3666 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29th, 10:30 a.m. also at Southern Hills with Jackie Vernon Qualls, a grandson, officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Burial will be a private family gathering. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
