Jennie Margaret Schwartz Lee, 96, died Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Care Inn of Abilene.
The daughter of Sadie (Moore) and Walter Henry Schwartz, Margaret was born on March 18, 1917 in Dawson County, Texas, and graduated from Crews High School. She married Doyle Rupert Lee on February 9, 1939 in Crews.
She worked at Abilene State School as a nurses aid from 1962 to 1982. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church in Abilene for 52 years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Rupert Lee in March, 1993; son, Johnny Doyle Lee; great-granddaughter, Megan Lyn Hagler; parents; three brothers, W.H. Schwartz, Ralph Schwartz and Lanny Schwartz; three sisters, Doretta Gerhart, Alta Mae Belfiore and Joyce Poteet; and a special friend and sister-in-law, Kate Lee.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Daryl Lee and wife Teresa of Marble Falls, Texas; two daughters, Janice Brown and husband Lynn of Potosi, and Peggy Hammond and husband Woody of El Paso; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Margaret is also survived by three brothers, Hartwell Schwartz, Don Schwartz and Jimmy Schwartz, and five sisters, Arlene Boles, Waldene Walpole, Martha Lee Standlee, Phylis Fulton and Nancy Allison.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 1, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, with Gary Lawrence officiating. A graveside service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in Crews Cemetery in Runnels County, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 31, at the funeral home.
