Jefferson D. Cox, M.D. passed away on December 29, 2016 at his family's ranch near Buffalo Gap, Texas. A private service was held at the family ranch. A family visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Odessa Country Club, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Jefferson was born in North Bend, Oregon to Leslie and Doris Cox on March 23, 1948. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1966. He graduated from The University of Oregon Honors College in 1970 and Washington University Medical School in St. Louis in 1980, both with honors.
He married Kathleen Reeves in 1968 in North Bend, Oregon. After completing his residency at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Jefferson Cox worked as a physician specializing in radiology in Odessa, Texas for 32 years. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974, rising to the rank of Captain during that time.
Jefferson is survived by his wife Kathleen, his son Cary Michael Cox and wife Robbie Shan Cox and grandchildren Jackson, Wyatt John, Anson and Caroline, and by his son Jefferson Randall Cox and wife Ashley Dawn Cox and grandchildren Jefferson Noah and Charlotte Dawn. He also leaves behind many dear friends he loved as part of his family.
Donations in Jefferson's honor should be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the West Texas Food Bank.
