Jean Kernan Walters Jean Kernan Walters went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 23, 2008. She was 83 years old. A memorial service, with Rev. Scott Mayer officiating, will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 25 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas April 13, 1924, Jean was born to Gertrude Margarete Gee and Roy Frederick Pearse in Schenectady, New York. She moved to San Antonio as a young girl and moved to Abilene to be near her daughter in March of 2005. She was a member of Saint Francis Episcopal Church in San Antonio. Jean married Benedict John Kernan in 1945, and he preceded her in death in November 1988. She remarried in December 2000 to Charles Walters, who also preceded her in death in February 2005. Jean is survived by her children, Donna Stinnett and her husband Robert, of Sealy, Deborah Bassett and her husband Mark, of Houston, and Diana Davis and her husband Lawson, of Abilene; one sister, Margaret Taylor of Shirley, New York; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, one niece and one nephew.
