Jean Waggoner Montgomery, 82, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at an Abilene medical center.
The daughter of Willie Grace (McGinley) and Willie Luther Waggoner, Jean was born on June 18, 1930 in Hylton, Texas in Nolan County, and graduated in 1947 from high school in nearby Blackwell, Texas. On June 5, 1947 Jean married Lindsey “Burl” Montgomery in Blackwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Montgomery, on August 8, 2004; daughter, Becky Jean Montgomery; parents and two sisters, Johnnie Ruth Gilliam and Ruby Pearl Bridges.
Jean is survived by her son, Randal Montgomery and wife Pat of Abilene; brother, Harley Waggoner and wife Emma of Garland, Texas; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, with Rev. Stan Allcorn and Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Blackwell Cemetery at Blackwell, Texas. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chad Montgomery, Chance Montgomery, Chris Montgomery, Trey Hubbard, Scott McNea, and James Elam.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Toby Williams and his staff, and the staff of Hendrick Hospice Care.
