Frances "Jean" Estes experienced the miracle of being absent from the body and being present with the Lord on Thursday night March 30, 2017. Many of her family and friends were by her side singing her favorite songs and hymns about Jesus and heaven. Jean was born in Winter, Texas on January 3, 1937 to Roy and Dola Evans. After attending high school at Abilene High, she married Don W. Estes on June 27, 1958.
She was a hard-working beautiful lady. As a young mother, she took in cleaning and ironing and scraped and painted houses. Later she was an owner of Estes House of Fashion and loved helping the local ladies be well dressed. In the 1980's she became the first (in home hemo-dialysis care giver) in Abilene and gave treatments at home to her husband for five years. She worked beside him in the accounting and rental business for 47 years and continued after his death 6 years ago. She will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, care and service to others. She was a founding and active part of her local church, Victory Church. Her devotion to her God, her family, employees, clients, tenants and church family was fully apparent to all. Just like the elephants she loved to collect she was gentle and strong.
She was predeceased by her father Roy Evans and mother Dola Evans, her loving husband Don W. Estes, Sr, her brother Harold Evans, and her granddaughter Candace Lene Estes. She is survived by four children and their spouses; Randy Estes and Fonda of Abilene, Sherry Howard and Tom of North Richland Hills, Don Estes, Jr. and Sherry of Abilene, and Greg Estes and Larrie of San Angelo, her brothers and their spouses; Dinsel Evans and Shirley of Abilene, Roy Evans and Evelyn of Abilene, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, as well as countless friends.
Words are not sufficient to describe the love we have known for our Mom, Mamaw, (Jean)! Her true example of love, care and compassion for others was extraordinary.
Special thanks to Weldon Lane and Sharon Richey as well as all of her faithful and trusted employees and to all of the caregivers at Texas Oncology, Hendrick Hospital and Big Country Hospice for their love and efforts.
