Jaylene Crisman
Jaylene Marie Crisman, 86, of Abilene, went to be with her Lord in Heaven on October 30, 2024.
Visitation will be Friday, November 8th, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home on Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral will be held at same location on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at 2pm, with graveside services immediately following at Elmwood Memorial Park on S 14th. Pastor Larry Fitzgerald, of Woodlawn Church of Christ will be officiating, and Jaylene's grandchildren will be her pallbearers.
Jaylene was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico to John Albert Pond and Ada Marie (Bobbie) Pond, on February 11th, 1938. After graduating from Carlsbad High, she attended Abilene Christian College (Now ACU) and graduated with a degree in Education. While studying hard at ACC, Jaylene met and fell in love with Bartley Wayne Crisman. On December 20th, 1959, they married in Carlsbad, NM at Sunset Church of Christ. After settling together in Abilene, Jaylene taught for Abilene ISD for 10 years before taking a position teaching Special Education in Anson ISD, where she retired after a total of 23 years teaching and caring for her students. During her tenure as a public-school teacher, Jaylene also taught Vacation Bible School at Woodlawn, where she and her husband were bright fixtures in many lives.
Jaylene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bart, brother Thomas Pond, sister Tamara Scheirholt, and her oldest son Kyle Crisman. She is survived by her son, Kern Crisman and his wife Mandy, her daughter Keri Vaughan and her husband John, her brother Rick Pond and his wife Caryn, as well as her 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family of Jaylene wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Nurses and CNAs of Mesa Springs Healthcare Center, The Rehab Center Hospice, and Woodlawn Church of Christ for caring for her and being part of her life and story.
