Janie Lee Ramsey, 70, passed away August 7, 2012. She was born to Elva Nelle and Philip Reeves in Clovis, New Mexico December 30, 1941. She attended schools in Ft. Sumner, NM where she actively participated as cheerleader and band member, attended Girls State, was active in Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star, and was a member of the First Methodist Church. After attended college at the University of New Mexico, Texas Tech University and Cliff Mann Floral Design, Denver, she became designer/owner of City Floral, Artesia, NM. She married Michael T. Ramsey September 11, 1971, and had resided in Abilene for 41 years.
Jane was compassionate, fun-loving, loyal and selfless. She had an untiring devotion and love for family and friends, always placing Mike and her mother first and foremost in her life. Until health issues interfered, her joys were beloved pets and designing and puttering in her yard. She was a beautiful lady inside and out with a great sense of humor. Jane's love, charm and spirit bonded with all she met, producing friendships and often a "best friend" feeling.
She was preceded in death by her dad. Survivors include her husband, Michael T. Ramsey of Abilene; mother, Elva Nelle Rankin of Abilene; sister and husband, Pat and Mike Tuohy of Kennewick, Washington; stepdaughters, Mary Ramsey Paxton and Jeanne Ramsey Farquharson of Abilene; two nephews, Mike and Chris Tuohy and their families in Seattle, WA.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene with Rev. David Cason officiating.
