Nancy Jane Johnston, 82 years of age, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at her home.
Jane was born on February 16, 1940 in Morenci, Arizona to Victor and Elizabeth Edwards. As a young girl her family moved to Utah. When Jane was in the 6th grade her fathers job brought them to Hughes Springs, Texas.
Jane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved God.
When she started high school she became active in band playing the coronet was majorette in the band. Jane was a sophmore in high school when she met the love of her life, Don Johnston. They married during her senior year of high school on November 11, 1957 and soon there after started their little family. Donald was first and about a year and a half later along came Angela. Troy was born six years later and then Keith was born a year after that.
Jane spent her entire life serving others.
First and foremost, she served and loved her family. She was the first person to call and sing to you on your birthday. She once even accidentally called the wrong number and left a message singing happy birthday and received a call from someone thanking her for the call and telling her it made their day even though it was not their birthday. She was always the first person to volunteer to serve as a room mother for her children’s classes. She baked countless cookies and made ceramic angels for kids to take home. She planned games and worked hard to ensure that everyone had a wonderful time! She was the biggest champion and defender of her children and grandchildren. She was at every birthday party, school or sporting event that they had.
Jane loved her sisters and her mom. They loved to travel together and always had an adventure or mis-adventure story to share when they returned home!
No matter where she went or what she was doing, she was always happy to return home to Don.
Jane also served in her community. She worked as a realtor helping people find their perfect home. She also worked in banking and then in 1982 she started her own business, Craft Design. Almost any business or school you entered in Abilene, you would see a sign or trophy that she made.
About ten years ago Jane decided it was time to sell her business and to retire. She absolutely loved sports and could tell anything you wanted to know about them. A big highlight for her was Keith taking her to see an Alabama football game at AT&T Stadium.
Jane will be missed by her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and a sister, Charles Allen, Martha Elizabeth, J.V., Jackie, Ernie and her daughter Angela.
Jane is survived by her husband Don, and children Donald (Rhonda), Troy (Melissa) and Keith. Her five grandchildren, Shane, Tyler, Hailie, Dylan and Taylor and five great grandchildren Isabella, Jaxon, Fox, Navy and Finn and her sisters MaryAnn Jackson and Ruth Howard and many nieces and nephews.
