James Michael Whitt

James Michael "Mike" Whitt, 62, of Moran, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 in Abilene, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, at Gunsight Baptist Church with Charles Kuhn officiating. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Mike was born in Jones County, Texas to Wilford and Barbara (Jones) Whitt on May 6, 1954. He graduated from Albany High School in 1973. He married Joyce on July 27, 2001 in Moran. Mike worked as an electrician for J & J Electric for 30 plus years. He was the Mayor of Moran for several years. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Richard and John; and three sisters Sherry, Debbie and Jeannie. Mike is survived by his wife Joyce; children Kimberly, Lela O'Brien and husband Vince, Willie Johnson and wife Angela, and Shauta Robinson and husband Chris. He is also survived by two sisters Terri Vickers and husband Harry, and Melissa Leonard and husband Tony, and one brother Don Whitt; grandchildren Linda, Chloe, Tristan, Paige, Glaive, Teagan, Bella, Adriana, Alicia and Rylee; great-grandchildren Aubrey, Autumn, Samantha and Myah; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorials may be given to The American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
